Matthew Skokan Ph.D., S.E., Principal, Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers
Dr. Skokan is a Principal with Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers in Pasadena, where he brings his 25+ years of experience to managing complex, large-scale, fast-paced, and technically challenging structural design projects. Dr. Skokan is a hands-on leader with a passion for delivering innovative design solutions using a team approach for a variety of healthcare, institutional, university and commercial projects. His expertise includes structural design for earthquake and wind loads, performance-based seismic engineering, innovative structural systems, base isolation, energy dissipation systems, non-linear structural analysis, and seismic rehabilitation of existing buildings.
Dr. Skokan received his Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees from UCLA and is a licensed Structural and Civil Engineer in the state of California. Dr. Skokan is active in the structural engineering community serving on local, state, and national committees that develop guidelines for seismic design of new and existing buildings. He has published and presented nationally and internationally on the design and analysis of structural systems and has been involved in the design of several award-winning projects.
Nofel Teldjoune P.E., Project Manager, Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers
Mr. Nofel Teldjoune has over 8 years of structural engineering experience with Saiful Bouquet consisting of both new building design and seismic rehabilitation of existing buildings. With a deep technical understanding of systems and codes, Nofel has brought innovative and effective design to complex, fast-paced and challenging projects for both steel and concrete structures. Nofel has expertise in the design of higher education facilities, science & laboratory buildings, retail centers, healthcare structures, office buildings and essential facilities.
Mr. Teldjoune received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from ESTP in Paris, France and his Master’s degree from UCLA. Nofel is a licensed Civil Engineer in the state of California.
This seminar will focus on the technical aspects of two challenging projects currently being designed at Saiful Bouquet, including one new building and one retrofit of an existing building:
- Base Isolation of an Existing Building
- Unique “Hashtag” Science Building
