Liana Wong, a dedicated fourth-year student majoring in Structural Engineering with a specialization in Civil Structures, has been honored with the prestigious 2023 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Scholarship. This esteemed scholarship, designed to promote excellence in the engineering profession, will be presented during the awards ceremony at the upcoming ACEC Fall Conference.
Liana's passion lies in the realm of reinforced concrete, which ignited her involvement with the UC San Diego Concrete Canoe project team. Her journey began as a junior lead in the Mix Design team, where she found immense satisfaction in the hands-on aspects of the engineering process. Whether it involved rigorous paddling practice or the demanding hours spent pouring concrete, she has cherished the wealth of memories created through this experience. Currently, Liana serves as a co-project manager, leading the team toward their shared goals. As she looks beyond her undergraduate years, Liana envisions a future dedicated to advancing the field of reinforced concrete structures, with a profound commitment to sustainable practices. The ACEC scholarship represents a pivotal step in her educational journey, as it will significantly facilitate her pursuit of a Master's degree.
