Congratulations to Joaquin Marquez for being awarded the first Sho Funai Endowed Prize in Structural Engineering.

The endowment was created by the Funai family to commemorate and honor the legacy of Sho Funai, a former Structural Engineering graduate student who passed away in 2012. The award will be given every year to celebrate a top-level graduate student in Structural Engineering at U.C. San Diego.  This year Joaquin Marquez was selected and recognized for his demonstration of passion and inspiration in pursuing his goals while upholding similar values that Sho embodied.
